XL Recordings is proud to present: Vampire Weekend summer tour concert tickets, available now for the bloody best show of 2010. Vampire Weekend is THE very hot indie alternative band of the year. They are even giving The Twilight Saga: New Moon's Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner competition for most interesting Vampire-related fantasy, not for their romance, instead for their wild musical craft. By signing with XL, Vampire Weekend became labelmates with some of the most famous bands of rock: The White Stripes, Radiohead, M.I.A., and Beck. They join ultra-hot newcomers The Horrors, The xx, and old-school legend Gil Scott-Heron on XL Recordings. Vampire Weekend signed to XL because of their "cool roster of artists." Their shows regularly sell out. This tour takes them to famous venues: New York City's Radio City Music Hall, the Los Angeles Hollywood Bowl, Washington state's Sasquatch Festival, the massively fun Glastonbury Festival in England, and the most popular venue in the world, the Benicassim Festival in Barcelona, Spain.
We will notify you by email when your tickets become available.
Vampire Weekend's sound has been called "Upper West Side Soweto Music," which references their style. Vampire Weekend was influenced by South African music and the streets and cultures of their hometown, New York City. They take their name from lead singer Ezra Koenig's film class project, a thesis where their name originated.
A Vampire Weekend show is all about soundscape. Vampire Weekend came on the scene in 2008 with a self-titled jewel of an album. They immediately became "the next big thing" with their unique sound. They are like no one else on the indie scene, beholding one of their shows will prove that to you. Imagine a cross between Pavement and Paul Simon's "Graceland" and you've got some idea, except imagine a more melodic Pavement and imagine that trombonist Kim Allan Cissel played "Graceland" much louder. Their self-titled debut garnered tons of praise in the music press. They were photographed for the cover of Spin Magazine before their album was even released. No other artist can claim such a feat. They were named that year's "Best New Band" by Spin Magazine. Many other influential publications, websites, and blogs have given awards and special status to the band. Vampire Weekend was in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of Top Ten Bands of 2008. The song "A-Punk" was used in the Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly movie "Step Brothers" and the hit British TV series, "The Inbetweeners." Two more songs from their debut album are featured the 2009 movie "I Love You, Man."
Fans love Vampire Weekend live in concert. They have come a long way since practicing together, back in 2007, while students at New York City's Columbia University. The band is comprised of: Ezra Koenig on lead vocals and guitar, Rostam Batmangli on keyboards and guitar, Chris Tomson on drums and percussion, and Chris Baio on bass guitar.
This summer's Vampire Weekend concerts are in support of their second album, "Contra". "Contra" was released in January. It debuted at number one on the Billboard Album charts. Vampire Weekend's new video for "Giving Up the Gun" features cameos from Lil Jon, RZA, and actor Jake Gyllenhall, a friend of the band. To much acclaim, the band has twice appeared on NBC's Saturday Night Live program (first, in 2008 with Amy Adams as host; second time, March 2010, Zach Galifianikis hosted).
Vampire Weekend play an infectious style of indie pop that is an absolute delight live in concert. They mix Afro Beat, reggae, angular ironic indie pop, add a dash of the Beach Boys, and pour on the late era Talking Heads. Melodic and hard-edged, there is something here in Vampire Land for everyone. You are just a ticket purchase away from hearing songs like the snappily-named "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa," "Mansard Roof," and the big hit "A-Punk" live. Come to dance your feet off, all the while keep an ear to ear grin. The sheer delightfulness of a good band is impossible to beat. Get your tickets now, here, safe, fast, easy, and vampire approved.
