Three Days Grace formed in 1997 by original members Adam Gontier on vocals and rhythm guitar, Brad Walst on bass guitar and the drummer, Neil Sanderson. The line-up was filled out by the addition of lead guitarist Barry Stock in 2003. The band released its first album, the self-titled "Three Days Grace" on the major label Jive Records in 2003. The album received good reviews and many noted that it stood out from the pack of generic alternative metal then flourishing. Album sales were good, buoyed by the radio hit "I Hate Everything About You." It eventually went Platinum in America and Double Platinum in the band's native Canada. After a stint in rehab by the singer Adam Gontier, the band returned in 2006 with the album "One-X." The album featured darker lyrics than its predecessor due to Adam Gontier's problems that led him to rehab. This was juxtaposed with the punchy, energetic music creating an interesting contrast not often found in the genre. The album went to #2 in Canada and #5 on the American Billboard 200 chart. The album featured the massive rock hit single, "Animal I Have Become" which helped Three Days Grace gain the distinction of the rock band with the heaviest airplay in the U.S. in 2007. Their latest LP, "Life Starts Now" was released in September 2009 and debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at #3, the band's most successful to date. The catchy single from the album, "Break" is currently tearing up the rock charts and is quick becoming a live favorite.
