The Eagles were no one-hit wonders; more like, the Eagles were writing nothing but great stuff. They came to define the Seventies for many of their fans, releasing hit after melodious hit. Their stardom culminated in the 66 million selling monster smash album "Hotel California." The title song is a dark and mysterious take on the underbelly of the American Dream, something of which the Eagles were becoming very familiar. The previous year they parted ways with founding member Bernie Leadon, replacing him with former James Gang member (and hit solo artist) Joe Walsh. Joe brought a harder, even funkier sound to the band that remains a highlight of their live shows, soloing loudly and with gusto.
The Eagles broke up in 1980, but were back in 1994 to their fans delight doing what they do best, blowing people away with their amazing live sets of literally non-stop hits on their appropriately titled "Hell Freezes Over" tour. Today that reunited line-up of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmitt is the classic line-up you'll get when you get your tickets to see them live this summer! Don't miss out because you know "Hell Freezing Over" is a rare event.
The Eagles burst on the scene in 1972 with their debut album, titled simply "Eagles." They started out as Linda Ronstadt's backing band and eventually thought they'd have a go of it on their own. Both band leaders Glenn Frey and Don Henley had been writing their own songs and playing and practicing with Jackson Browne and other Los Angeles musicians. The album "Eagles" was an instant smash, defining what was to be known as the California Sound: a mellow mixture of folk, country and rock. Interestingly, the album was not even recorded in California, but in England with legendary producer Glyn Johns. The debut album yielded three Top 40 singles, "Peaceful Easy Feeling," "Witchy Woman," and "Take It Easy," a song that was written with their friend and fellow country-rocker Jackson Browne.
