As most people know the Super Bowl is the National Football League's (NFL) Championship game. It is played two weeks after the end of the Conference Championships where the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC) champions have been determined. The two weeks between the Conference Finals and the Super Bowl serves two purposes. One is to give the teams battered by the regular season and the playoffs some time to heal up for the big game and the second, almost as important apparently, is to help build the hype for what is without a doubt the premier sporting event in the United States.
Super Bowl Week is the week that precedes the game and parties abound from all corners of the host city and from all sorts of sponsors, suppliers and even those tangentially related to the NFL. Hollywood is as well represented at these parties as is the sporting world and celebrities and notable people from politics and media are also out in force to enjoy the festivities. The game is the focus of much of what goes on but so is just having a good time. Videos of some of these parties can even be found on the internet and they are covered by all the entertainment television shows. Stories appear in the Sports, Entertainment and Business sections of newspapers simply because of so much of all of these elements are part of the Super Bowl.
The party is actually often two parties. One is filled with A-list celebrities from the entertainment and sports world that is held on the Friday evening before the Super Bowl. The second party is held the day before the Super Bowl and has, of late, also been tied to a charitable event. The VIPs also attend this event and customer relations and business dealing seems to be a focus of both events. Both events have music, dancing and beautiful people with sponsors from a variety of industries.
