Stan Humphries started this great event. He was a well-respected football star for the San Diego Chargers, Washington Redskins, and a star quarterback at Northeast Louisiana University. Mr. Humphries hosted this charity golf match for its first eleven years. Now, this "San Diego-born" celebrity classic is in the capable hands of Drew Brees. Since Mr. Brees has taken over this event, there is a new vitality to the event. Tickets are in high demand and donations are soaring for this rare PGA tournament with huge heart and soul.
Drew Brees is the new host of this celebrity tournament. And the event will now benefit the Brees Dream Foundation. Established with his wife Brittany, it will attempt to expand their mission to research and fight cancer, while providing care to children afflicted. Over 4.5 million dollars have already been donated to several academies, supplying funds for research in several high need communities: New Orleans, San Diego, West Lafayette, and Purdue.
