The Running Horse Championship never happened. Jack Nicklaus and his son designed the Running Horse Golf Club where the championship was almost held. The showpiece course is masterfully sculpted in and around the mesas of Fresno, California. The water features are perfectly placed. The 18-hole terrain is the centerpiece of a huge San Joaquin golf development project. Recently foreclosure occurred on the property and its potential placement on the PGA tour was permanently lost. The PGA does intend to look into Fresno again as a potential home for a tournament, but The Running Horse's chances remain problematic.
