The Reno-Tahoe Open has been a professional PGA tournament since 1999. It is played between Reno and Lake Tahoe at the Montrêux Golf & Country Club. With the Sierra Nevada in the left periphery and lights of Reno in the right, Montrêux has unmatchable views. The course is a masterpiece that Nicklaus, its designer, feels is one of his best yet. It may sound like it is in the middle of nowhere, but the small skiing community has a topnotch hospital, good food, and shopping. Don't forget the stunning beauty!
The last purse for this event was 3 million dollars, of which the winner received $540,000. The 2010 Reno-Tahoe will be changing its date. Now, it takes place during the same time as the British Open. This event has a large field of 132 players, down from 156. It is uncertain if the field will reduce further. This being its first year concurrent with the British Open, judgment on that decision is suspended. This year the event will run July 12 to 18.
