To make sure the golfers finish their rounds on time, the field has been shrunk. Twelve less players now qualify for the tournament. 'The increase is the PGA's way to reflect and elevate the event,' said the tournament general manager. 'The price is moderate compared to other Los Angeles events and helps to provide for charities.'
In 1926, this golf event was known as the Los Angeles Open. Now it is known as the Northern Trust Open. It was known for generating some of the most exciting golf on the PGA tour. It has survived WWII, floods, fires, and bureaucracy. The Open is played in February. Northern Trust Open is played in Pacific Palisades, California. It had also been played in Tarzana. And back when it began, the event was held in Griffith Park and the Los Angeles Country Club. The Open is unique because it is where the first woman ever allowed to play in a PGA tournament was allowed to do so, Ms Babe Zaharias. The Riviera Country Club and the Hillcrest Country Club are both famous golf courses associated with the L.A. Open.
