The NBA All-Star Saturday Night game has been held during NBA All-Star Weekend since 2003. This is the event to watch if you like great shooting, basketball skill challenges, three point shoot outs and the slam dunk spectacular.
The skills challenge is the second part of the All-Star Saturday Night festivities. It is a competition that has been set up to allow guards to go head to head. Each player must first shoot a layup. Then each player must dribble between three obstacles and make a pass into a net without touching the ground. Next they make another pass into a net that must touch the ground. From there they shoot a 20 jump shot and then make a long pass from close to the basket into another net. To stop the timer the player must dribble through three more obstacles and then execute a layup or shoot the ball. Once again, the two fastest times go to the finals and winner takes all.
The Three-Point Shootout is the next contest held on Saturday Night. In this contest, nba players attempt to make as many three-point field goals as possible from five spots behind the three-point arc. From each position they have five balls to shoot. Of the five balls at each station they have one specially colored ball that is worth double points. The players have one minute to shoot all of the shots. The top three scores go to the finals and the champ is declared.
The Slam Dunk Contest speaks for itself. You can count on some spectacular dunks and LOTS incredible hang time. Past winners include Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Spud Webb.

The Shooting Stars Competition brings a dream team based competition where each side has three players. Each NBA team has one player, one WNBA player and one retired NBA player. The players combine to make six shots with each shot getting increasingly harder. The last shot taken is from half court. There is a two minute time limit to complete all the shots. The teams with the best two times go head to head to determine the winner.
