It is no secret to fans of motor car racing that the NASCAR KN Pro Series West is one of the most intense gatherings of talent that line up at the speedway each year. This race has been called many things from NASCAR Camping World Series West to the NASCAR Winston West Series, then on to the NASCAR Grand National Division and the AutoZone West Series and on to the NASCAR West Series before arriving at the current title. Regardless of what the letters read on the ticket, this division of NASCAR is focused specifically on regional stock car racing and is a highlight of every NASCAR season.

When it formed in 1954, The West Series was a place where drivers located in the western region of the United States were able to lay their own turf on the NASCAR circuit and let the world know exactly who they were on the speedway. Typically, these drivers were unable to travel to the more dominant and familiar racing regions in the South and areas around North Carolina. As with all Camping World West Series in NASCAR, these are the races that take place west of the Mississippi and carry on a tradition of big ticket drivers such as Derrike Cope and Kevin Harvick.
NASCAR switched things up a bit in 2003 when the rules for the Busch North series were unified and, ultimately, became the Camping World East Series in addition to the West Series. This unification resulted in the Grand National Division that combined drivers and cars that called either series home. This was written in cement with the Toyota All-Star Showdown which was the Grand National championship and one of the best tickets any NASCAR fan could put in their memory book.
AutoZone took ownership of the West series after two seasons just after the AutoZone Elite Division was discontinued in 2006. Tickets were just not in high enough demand for the all encompassing four NASCAR Elite Divisions. In 2008 Camping World took over the NASCAR Grand National Division and ticket sales increased with each powerful race.
Change arrived just prior to that when in 2007, changes to the 'spec engine' and composite car bodies made it far more affordable to allow for competition in the AutoZone West Series, as well as the Busch East Series. As of 2010, the Speed Channel began covering the races in televised broadcasts for those dedicated NASCAR fans that were unable to obtain one of the priceless tickets to see one of these amazing races.
While the NASCAR KN Pro Series East covers the opposite part of the country east of the Mississippi, the focus for most fans in the west remains the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.
