Kemper Open Tickets

The Booz Allen Classic is the new name for the Kemper Open. For years, this golf event was the largest sporting event of any kind in the Washington area, attracting 200,000 fans, plus over 7 million in charity dollars. And it has continued to fare well through many regime changes. Many still believe that this is the premier sporting event in the nation's capitol. Replete with grand history, the Kemper has enjoyed some sweet, high moments. Arnold Palmer's surpassing the first million-dollar purse mark happened at the Kemper in 1968.

Booz Allen is a private Virginia consulting firm. They specializes in defense and homeland security matters, heavy on information technology, simulations, and systems integrators. The unique way this company does business, primarily owned by The Carlyle group, should ensure that the Kemper Open stays alive for years to come.

The Kemper has been receiving the longest continuous sponsorship from the PGA for several years. It has shown a resiliency as a unique, free spirited tourney no matter where it has traveled. Since inception, it has been a highly sought ticket, thoroughly attended, heavily reported, and respected PGA event.

The course at Avenel is a good one. Every course rotated into the Kemper has been top notch. Booz Allen representatives, new to this tourney, have stated an interest in keeping the fine line between fresh and traditional carefully balanced. Perhaps, because of the wandering nature of this event, the next few years will be spent trying to regain a sense of tradition by centralizing the location in D.C. The Classic has thus far been known to be played anywhere from Maryland to Massachusetts in clubs as diverse as Quail Hollow to the TPC at Avenel (now the home of the John Deere Classic). The first home for the Kemper was way back in 1968 at the Pleasant Valley Country Club in Massachusetts, town of Sutton.
