John Mayer is kicking-off his Worldwide and North American Tours to support his newest, most celebrated album, 'Battle Studies.' John Mayer is a popular concert ticket because of one simple fact: Mayer is a great guitar player. He has shared the stage with Eric Clapton. Sure, he has dated famous people (Jennifer Anniston) and is known for his attractive looks. But his songs are well crafted and his tunes really resonate with his many avid fans.
With Battle Studies, his most deeply personal album to date, Mayer showcases a variety of purposeful and stirring songs, blending them with a mixture of quiet acoustic guitar and powerful blues riffs. His North American tour begins in July 16th Charleston, SC and includes stopovers at some of the finest concert venues on the continent: The Virginia Beach Amphitheatre, Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Hershey Park, Red Rocks, the Hollywood Bowl, the Cricket Wireless Pavilion in Phoenix, and the Comcast Theatre in Mayer's hometown of Hartford, CT. Backing Mayer will be Train, fresh off the success of the multi-platinium "Save Me San Francisco" and the single"Hey Soul Sister," their first monster hit since the grammy-winning "Drops of Jupiter." Also supporting Mayer is the international phenom Owl City (Adam Young), backing the platinum selling release of his album "Ocean Eyes" and its triple platinum number one single "Fireflies."
The folk rock harmony trio The Avett Brothers, the third supporting act of the tour, merges the musical traditions power pop, roots rock, bluegrass, country, and punk into the flavor of Buddy Holly, Merle Travis and Townes Van Zandt. The Avett Brothers are touring with the release of their new album, "I and Love and You," and will join Mayer on the heels of their scheduled summer performance at Bonnaroo.
At age 13 Mayer was given a guitar. Shortly thereafter Mayer was given a Stevie Ray Vaughan cassette tape. The rest is history. Mayer first attracted public notice at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin Texas, resulting in a contract with Aware records, and, following that, Columbia Records. Mayer's first two studio albums, "Room for Squares" and "Heavier Things," rocketed to multi-platinum status, resulting in a 2003 Best Male Pop Vocal Performance Grammy Award for the single "Your Body Is a Wonderland." In 2005 Mayer earned his first number one single with the song "Daughters," for which he would also win a Grammy for Song Of The Year. While primarily writing and recording acoustic rock in his early works, Mayer gradually began a transition towards the blues influenced contemporary rock in 2005. Mayer's growing style culminated in the release of his third album, "Continuum," in September 2006. At the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in 2007 Mayer won Best Pop Vocal Album for "Continuum" and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Waiting on the World to Change."
His fourth studio album, "Battle Studies," was released November 2009, debuting at #1 selling 900,000 copies in the U.S. alone. As Mayer describes it, "The album is called 'Battle Studies' and that's because it incorporates a lot of the lessons, a lot of the observations, and a little bit of advice. Like a handbook, like a heartbreak handbook.' Chart success came quickly with "Who Says" reaching 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His current single "Heartbreak Warfare" landed as his seventh Top Five radio hit. "Perfectly Lonely" and "Assassins" are poised to do the same.
With a truckload of major music awards and a wide variety of alternate careers, from writer and designer to philanthropist and comedian, Mayer has become a cultural icon outside the music world. He has been included in the Time Magazine list of the 100 most influential contemporary thinkers, leaders, artists and entertainers. Rolling Stone Magazine featured John Mayer twice on the cover of their annual "Guitar" issue. In February 2007's "The New Guitar Gods" round-up, he was nicknamed "Slowhand Junior" (in reference to mentor Eric Clapton). May 2008's "Living Guitar Legends" issue featured Mayer with an cast of peers and icons. In 2005, Mayer toured and recorded with Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan as John Mayer Trio, whose live album "TRY!" featured a razor-sharp blend of blues and rock. Mayer's albums have sold a total 12.5 million copies worldwide. Join the many diehard Mayer fans and buy your concert ticket here now.

His summer tour will kick off in July. Mayer tickets make the perfect summer concert experience. His new album, many believe, is his best yet. He will rock and roll through 40 amphitheaters across the US and Canada, ending in early September. Since its beginning in February, The Battle Studies Tour has consistently sold out arenas across the country and has earned a Top Five ranking on Billboard Magazine's weekly Hot Tour list. The Avett Brothers, Train and Owl City will join him onstage for the North American tour.
A perennial nominee and five time winner in the Grammy Awards Best Vocal Performance categories, Mayer has earned a reputation as a dynamic and soulful performer, whose artistic tastes stylistically blend the genres of pop, rock, jazz, country, hip-hop and blues. His wildly adventurous musical tastes have over years resulted in performances and/or recordings with luminaries such as Clapton, Buddy Guy, Herbie Hancock, Dixie Chicks, Jay Z, Kanye West, T-Bone Burnett, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Sheryl Crow, B.B. King, Colbie Caillat, Brett Dennen, Maroon 5, Guster, Howie Day, Ben Folds, Mat Kearney, Counting Crows, Michael Franti and Spearhead, The Wallflowers, Teitur, OneRepublic and Paramore.
