Iron Maiden Live is fantastic musical mayhem of anthems and rock and roll. They play both kinds of music: heavy and metal. Going to an Iron Maiden concert changes lives. Their integrity and grit are infectious, as are many of their fans who enjoy the music so much and bang their heads so honestly, it makes one enjoy a rock show like never before: "Run to the hills / Run for your lives / Run to the hills / Run for your li-i-ves!" It's amazing.
Iron Maiden is smart music played with technical excellence. The song writing has deep social commentary and the band has a vast history of struggles they have overcome too. Did you know "Run To The Hills" was about Native American forced denial of entry into their own homelands and hills? It hints at the Plains Sioux Wars too. Steve Harris, Bruce Dickinson, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Nicko McBrain are still the Iron Kings of Rock. Paul Di'Anno and Blaze Bayley have been part of this bands history and fans love and respect their contributions. But it is nice to have Bruce Dickinson in such great form and enthusiastic about being back at the helm, screaming like a banshee, like he was born to do it. And it is great to have Steve Harris and the boys writing such great new tunes, a "must see live band." They are a needed voice for those about to metal.
Their collection of albums is extensive. From "Iron Maiden" to "Killers" up to "The Number of the Beast," "Piece of Mind," "Powerslave," and "Somewhere in Time," Iron Maiden blazed a new trail for pure angst energy and glorious artwork, musicianship, and thrilling original music. Then, as "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son", "No Pray for the Dying," "Fear of the Dark," "The X Factor," and "Virtual XI" came out, one-by-one Iron Maiden topped something they had already done with something brand new. Quite a feat. Now with "Brave New World," "Dance of Death," and "Matter of Life and Death," Iron Maiden have brought it up yet another notch of boldness. The great songs on Iron Maiden's albums must be heard live.
The new songs have been receiving awesome feedback from fans. "Different World," Hallowed Be Thy Name," "For the Greater Good of God," "Lord of Light." "Out of the Shadows," "Brighter Than a Thousand Suns," "The Pilgrim," and "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg" all rock. The themes, lyrics, and moods of their latest stuff is fascinating, captivating. Adrian Smith, Steve Harris, and Bruce Dickinson are writing songs about the terror of the long days all must face in war. The versions of Iron Maiden song live in concert are longer, wilder, and different every night out. The setlist rotates like no other touring act. And, per usual: Iron Maiden know how to play their new tunes loud and proud, just like it should be.
