Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic Tickets

The Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic is a golf tournament dating back to WWII. Under the new direction of Wyndham Hotels, founded in Dallas, the tournament has remained a vital pro golf event held in North Carolina. The Wyndham Championship is the final PGA event before the battle for the PGA FedEx Cup begins and playoff season starts. The purse for this event is nearing one million dollars to the winner.

The happy spirit of great players and country clubs (Sam Snead and the Starmount Forest, respectively) reside with the Wyndham Championship. No matter its name, it is the pride of Greensboro. Since DaimlerChrysler lost main sponsorship of the event, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has taken over. Wyndham has kept the championship in Greensboro. Almost one decade ago, Mark Brazil became the new Director for the Wyndham Championship and pushed for some wise moves, pushing things slowly into very impressive directions. The Wyndham, as a last tourney of its kind, prior to the playoff season, is expected to increase in popularity exponentially over the next ten years.

The hard-working blue-collar atmosphere of Greensboro means as much to this tournament's appeal as the niceties of its country clubs and class of its field. There is a strong sense of history that surrounds 'the Greensboro' that still translates to the Wyndham Championship. It appears that those who are championed here, still, personify the tournament's 'real city' work ethic. (Snead and Sutton certainly fit-in here.) This event means much to Greensboro, yes. But, success at Wyndham gains golfers more fan respect than some of the bigger tournaments.

The predominantly used golf course for this event is the Sedgefield Country Club, beautiful Forsyth Drive, Greensboro. The impeccable Ross-designed Championship course takes into consideration modern turf development processes, as well as old school know-how. Private members and locals agree, 'The Sedgefield is a course with a lot of horse sense.' The grand restorations of this classic design, opening its facility to new modern twists, without overdeveloping, is quite an architectural accomplishment. The tutor clubhouse, greens and practice ranges are top rate.
