The Grand Slam of Golf is an after season event. It is a very fun contest between the four different winners of the four major championships: The Masters in April; The US Open in June; The British Open in July; finally'”the PGA Championship in August! So, it follows, the Grand Slam of Golf must be held each year at the conclusion of both the European and American Tour seasons. The prize winnings may not count toward the 'money list' with PGA officials, but most fans concluded that the winner of this match is the best golfer of the past year. Its status as a little mini-World Series of sorts has varied amounts of criticism and praise sent its direction.

The tournament had not been played every year for a slew of different reasons. Now hosted in Bermuda, it was once played in Hawaii. It is usually one half million in purse to the winner. It is a 2-day event, one round of 18 holes per day. The annual tournament is enjoying a new location, the Port Royal Golf Course. It is expected to return to Mid Ocean Club and travel to other locations in the upcoming decade. Since its rocky beginnings, the sporadic tourney has standardized its frequency and does usually happen every year. It is doubtful that another year will be without a Grand Slam of Golf in the foreseeable future. Unless of course someone wins 'the Men's Grand Slam.' (A different concept / phrase altogether, albeit directly responsible for the aforementioned tournament.) To win the Men's Grand Slam'”a golfer must do the nearly impossible. If someone wins the PGA Grand Slam, there is no need for a Grand Slam of Golf. The winning of the former is to win of all four of the PGA's major championships: The Masters, The US Open, 'The Open' in Scotland or England; plus'”the PGA Championship! If that occurs there would be no other championship winners against whom to play at season's end. (Grand Slam of Golf is when the four winners of each of the four championships meet for a friendly battle of golf. The PGA Grand Slam is one man winning all four championships.)
