Golfers know they must wield their putters evenly when facing the layout at the FUNAI Classic. The spirally attractions abounding at Disney are distracting for some. Yet, the scores for the last several winners have been severely under par and the golfing has been exemplary. Even the preliminary cuts to get into the tournament are hovering around -6!

The FUNAI Classic is responsible for making a star out of Ryan H. Palmer. It is where he grabbed his first career tour tournament win in the PGA. Rookie golfer Lucas Glover put on a great round in 2005, winning with a spectacular bunker shot from a tricky greenside angle.
The golf carts at The Disney courses were some of the first to have GPS technology installed in the US. Walt Disney World has four championship links, the Osprey Ridge at Bonnet Creek Golf Club, The Magnolia, The Palm, and old Lake Buena Vista course. All are specifically unique American Courses. Golf Digest rated The Palm Golf Course and its nicely placed palm trees a high mark of 4 out of 5. It has plenty of challenges on its 7,000-yard course, and was given a respectable 74 rating by the PGA. While Disney's Magnolia is everyone's favorite to play and watch, arguably. But there is no denying it's chances for aces, stupendous magnolia blossoms, alligators, and running deer make it highly recommended by golf enthusiasts worldwide.
There have been many exciting rounds of golf played here. 2004's Ryan Palmer's surge from 5-strokes down, closing with a 62, is definitely one such example. Tim Simpson and Bob Lohr winning wire-to-wire in the late 80s is another great memory. And let's not forget Larry Nelson's biggest deficit comeback in the history of the tournament, when he slipped past O'Meara and Hatalsky in '87 with a Sunday miracle 63 finish.
The format for the FUNAI Classic is simple. This is a last chance of sorts to 'earn one's card' for the upcoming season. The Classic often rotates golf courses. The golf courses often alter layouts. And, per usual, these matches are likely to end with big, long playoffs.
