The 2009 Lions are competitive and have signs of showing a lot of young talent that could lead to a championship in the coming years. Head Coach Jim Schwartz is excited about his new 21-year-old rookie Quarterback Matthew Stafford who has already shown superstar abilities. Offensive Coordinator Scott Linehan has praised Stafford's big game abilities and with the return of the team's featured Wide Receiver Calvin Johnson after an injury, the Lions may be given that extra power boast to lead them deep into the playoffs in 2009 and years to come.

Fun Lions Facts:

'¢ The Lions put on one of the greatest comeback victories in NFL postseason history in 1957 when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-27 after trailing 27-7 in the third quarter.

'¢ In his rookie season in 1989, Lions Running Back star Barry Sanders missed the NFL rushing title by 10 yards when he chose to take himself out of a game the Lions had locked down in order to keep himself from risking any unnecessary injury.

Detroit Lions tickets are often available online and with the addition of the team's homage to the greats of their history, there is no better time than the present to check out a game at the legendary Ford's Field.

The early glory years for Detroit Lions tickets took place in the 1950s when the team was led by Quarterback great Bobby Lane. In fact, since Lane was traded at the end of the decade, the Lions have had very few winning seasons which some say is part of the Lane Curse. In 1991, some thought the Championship drought would come to end when the Lions won 12 games, capping off the season with a decisive victory over the defending champion Buffalo Bills. The Lions did win their first post-season victory since the 50s that year, but they failed to go all the way. The 1990s were exciting for Detroit Lions ticket buyers. The Lions made the playoffs in 1993,1994, 1995, 1997 and 1999 making the decade one of the most successful times in the teams history.

In 2009, the Lions unveiled the teams Pride of the Lions display at the clubs home stadium Ford Field. The display is an exciting opportunity for fans to experience the proud history of the team and the many legends who have played for the franchise. The display is located in the old Hudsons warehouse in the south suite levels of Ford Field. A list of Pro Football Hall of Famers who have worn the Lions jersey includes: Lem Barney, Lou Creemur, Jack Christiansen, Dutch Clark, Bill Dudley, Frank Gatski, John Henry Johnson, Dick Night Train Lane, Yale Lary, Bobby Layne, Barry Sanders, Charlie Sanders, Joe Schmidt, Doak Walker and Alex Wojciechowicz.
