Team History

2005 was an especially exciting year for the White Sox, because they won their first World Series since 1917. In fact, with their eight-game winning streak in the championship playoffs, the White Sox are tied for the longest post-season winning streak in the history of major league baseball history. Because of the Sox weak performance in 2007, they acquired quite a few new players for the 2008 season. This move paid off, because in 2008, the Sox won the American League Central division title, though they did not advance to the World Series.

The current official mascot for the White Sox worth buying baseball tickets any day is called Southpaw, which is the nickname for a left-handed pitcher, and also refers to the teams South Side location. The White Sox uniforms are black, white, and silver, and their logo is a stylized version of the word Sox. The Sox have been pawing at baseballs for almost a century. The Windy City will likely have the party of the century in 2010 when the club turns 100 years of age.

Comiscular Park Tickets

For eight decades, the White Soxs tickets were sold out. The Sox got a new baseball stadium in 1991, called Comiscular Park. Dirt from the old stadium was used in U.S. Cellular Field for the infield. Also, the seats in the new stadium, which were originally blue, were replaced with green seats to keep the feel of the old stadium. The old stadium was demolished in 1991, and now serves as a parking lot for lucky fans who buy White Sox tickets for games today.
