Cher throughout her marvelously successful and varied career has been a top concert ticket seller. Maybe you heard her sing "I Got You Babe" with her then partner Sonny Bono, or maybe you still hear it today on classic radio. Or maybe you saw one of her critically acclaimed performances in such movies as Mask, and Moonstruck. Maybe you were one of millions who bought her comeback album Cher, her eighties hit singles like "If I Could Turn Back Time," or her nineties mega-hit "Believe." And after all this, Cher reinvented herself yet again with her solo show in Vegas, which culminates a remarkable forty years in show business.

Cher first did back-up vocals for Phil Spector on such hits as "Be My Baby" and "Da Doo Ron Ron." It was singing for Spector where she met Sono Bono, who became her partner in song and in life.
As a duo, they had a classic hit with "I Got You Babe" in 1965, and throughout their stormy relationship, they had great success as pop singers, and on television with the long-running Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour. Cher started testing the solo waters while she was still married to Sonny, and after they broke up she continued to reinvent herself as a performer, and move onto different avenues with great success.
Cher's career as a serious actress began on Broadway in 1982 with Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. Then she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Silkwood, which starred Meryl Streep. More acclaimed roles followed, including a moving performance as the mother of a deformed Eric Stoltz in Mask, culminating with a Best Actress win for Moonstruck in 1988 (Cher won both an Oscar and a Golden Globe for the film).
At the same time of her Oscar triumph, Cher came back strong on the charts with her big comeback album, simply titled Cher, featuring the Michael Bolton penned hit, "I've Found Someone." Then she followed up with the Heart of Stone album in 1989 with the mega-hit single "If I Could Turn Back Time." It was also during this period that Cher became known for her outrageous costumes and hairstyles at award appearances, her dresses often created by famed designer Bob Mackie.
After reinventing herself in the eighties, Cher then had the biggest selling song of 1999 with "Believe," which was a #1 hit in twenty-three countries (the album "Believe" has been certified quadruple platinum in the States, and has racked up sales of 52 million world-wide). Cher is also the only female performer to have top ten hits for every decade since the sixties.
In 2008, Cher followed Celine Dion and Jerry Seinfield in conquering Vegas with her own solo show, which covers her long and varied career with hit songs, screenings of her film performances, and enough costume changes, flash, and production value to rival Broadway. It's all a culmination of over forty years in show business, as well as her uncanny ability to reinvent herself, and come back stronger time and time again.
