The five piece vocal group came to fame in the United States from their PBS special in 2005. The group tapped in to the insatiable thirst in this country for Irish folk music, particularly the Riverdance phenomenon. The "Songs From the Heart Tour" is Celtic Woman's fourth North American jaunt. You can expect a lavish stage production complete with a dazzling light show, inventive choreography and a great stage show. But of course when you go to see Celtic Woman you are there for primarily one thing: angelic voices. And Celtic Woman are a powerful vocal ensemble backed by a choir to fill the hall with all-encompassing harmonies.

They will perform all your favorite Celtic folk songs like "Caledonia," "Nil Se N La," "Galway Bay," and naturally "Danny Boy." To spice up the show, they perform some covers, including a powerful version of Enya's "Orinoco Flow" and even the decidedly un-Celtic "Scarborough Fair" by Simon and Garfunkel. A highlight of every show is their rousing rendition of "Amazing Grace," which has been known to move more than one audience member to tears.

The current touring line-up of Celtic Woman features Chloe Agnew, Lynn Hilary, Lisa Kelly, Alex Sharpe and Mairead Nesbitt, who also plays fiddle. Celtic Woman came together in 2004 as the brainchild of producer David Downes. He correctly reasoned that the United States would fall head over heels for an all-female vocal group. The success of acts like Enya, Clannad, and The Pogues, as well as the popularity of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, seemed to him to be "ripe for the picking." So in the tried-and-true svengali-esque fashion of Don Kirschener (The Monkees), Albert Grossman (Peter Paul and Mary) and Kim Fowley (The Runaways), he held auditions and constructed a group of five women who had not previously played together. But he chose well and the chemistry of the ladies was immediately apparent.

Celtic Woman taped a PBS Television special in Dublin, Ireland in 2005 which propelled their self-titled debut album to number one on Billboard's World Music Chart. In 2007 and 2008 Celtic Woman undertook a sold-out tour of the U.S. and Canada, the "Celtic Woman: A New Journey" tour. That tour was in support of their album of the same name. Their "Songs From the Heart" album was released in January 2010 and their tour in support of it began at the Mahaffey Theater in West Palm Beach on April 18. Be sure to purchase your tickets early for this lovely act.
