Canadian Open Golf Tickets

Pat Fletcher was the last Canadian to win his country's Canadian Open. That was in 1954. Mike Weir is the only recent serious run made at the honor. He came very close in 2004, but lost to Vijay Singh. The Canadian tournament is called the RBC Canadian Open now. For American golfers, it used to be a very important Open, taken seriously and thought of as highly as the U.S. Open. It especially had high status in the 1970s. Now it is still a desirable and easily accessible golf tournament. Its yearly field remains very strong. Some very great golfers have won the Canadian Open over the years: Trevino, Hagen, Snead, Palmer, Woods, and Nicklaus.

In 2010, the Open is to be played on July 22 through 25. But the tournament is taking a break from Glen Abbey. This year, the new home turf, St. George's Golf & Country Club will be responsible for the RBC Canadian Open. It is in beautiful Etobicoke, Ontario! There, the tournament is expecting a 5 million dollar purse and continuing its success with improving the field, just like last year. St. George's was originally the Royal York Golf Course and hosted the Canadian Open last in 1968. The club sits along the Humber River. Recently the club expanded the greens and fairways, but it is still a tough course around which spectators find maneuvering difficult.

Glen Abbey Golf Course, famous for the 2000 Woods 200-foot bunker shot, has been its host most often. Over 25 times, the Glen Abbey has held the Canadian Open. There are a limited number of entries allowed into the tournament. And the prize money does not count toward the money list. So, over the years it had lost the participation of some of the world's best golf stars. But, in 2009, the Canadian Open received a better play date, one in July. And July has proven a better time to play this tournament than mid-September.
