Just 50 miles outside of historic Hollywood, California rests the Auto Club Speedway of Southern California. It has been home to countless historic events and tickets are on sale now for the next Camping World 300 to make it into the record books. Originally known as the California Speedway, the facility is set on 568 acres with tickets for thousands of seats sold annually for NASCAR events. The area was originally known as the site of the first steel mill to be built and regularly operated west of the Rocky Mountains. How ironic then that it is now home to the product of what was the most grueling labor known to man. World War II even owes a strong debt to the facility, as the Liberty ships used to win many victories at sea were built from the steel from this land.
When the steel mill was closed in 1983, the site fell to historic lows and was in complete disrepair. James Cameron brought his now legendary epic 'The Terminator' to the site as a location during principal photography for the film that represented a post apocalyptic world in which machines ruled the world. Beyond the magic of Hollywood lore, the land was purchased by Penske Motorsports Inc. and the track was completed in 1997. The International Race of Champions was the major event on opening day that placed Mark Martin atop the podium. Ken Schrader won a Winston series race that day in 1997 and was followed by a Cup win by Jeff Gordon the following day. Needless to say, with thousands of NASCAR fans in the seats and holding the stubs of freshly torn tickets, history was made.
Countless Truck and Nationwide series races, including the Champ Car World Series have seen their day in the oval at the Auto Club Speedway which is also home to road racing and various motorcycle events.
The 300 has continued to be a major ticket attraction at the raceway which merged into the ISC track family when International Speedway Corporation merged with Penske Motorsports Inc. in 1999. Two cup series are held in the venue each year since 2004. Tickets to see NASCAR racing on the two mile oval track make the Camping World 300 a more than exciting reason to buy tickets now. There is now no reason to wait in any lines when a ticket can be bought right here for the best prices anywhere. A day at the races, in particular a ticket to the Nationwide Series 300, is a ticket into the high speed, fast action world of NASCAR. Only the best come out to complete in the most thrilling single day adventures that one can enjoy from a comfortable seat in the Speedway.
In 2008, the track was renamed the Auto Club Speedway of Southern California and it has lived up to the honor of its name and the NASCAR brand since then. Do not hesitate or think twice when a chance arises to buy tickets for a Camping World 300 race that reflects the glory of the town in which its shadow and spirit lay.
