Bristol Motor Speedway Tickets

The Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee is a fan favorite when tickets go on sale for the almost 170,000 seats. The concrete track measures .533 miles and during any given race the speeds can accelerate beyond that of other raceways and push the highly tuned precision vehicles almost 60 miles per hour faster than the norm. Needless to say, fans run intense races of their own in order to get tickets to this amazingly popular home of NASCAR racing. The pure intensity of the crowd alone is more than enough to push the increasingly euphoric drivers to their ultimate limits. As the groundbreaking test pilot Chuck Yeager unabashedly proved, boundaries are meant to be broken. Each driver at the Bristol Motor Speedway live up to that same tradition of fearless competition with the other drivers and themselves.

Tickets to the Bristol Motor Speedway are in such high demand that the Sharpie 500 race held in August of every year is an event that actually demands the need for a waiting list. This race under the lights is only comparable to the command it has over fans of NASCAR. The current appeal of Bristol is far beyond where it was by way of fan appreciation and overall support when it opened in 1961. On opening day, it was called the Bristol International Speedway. The attendance was as lackadaisical as the facility itself, with a maximum capacity of 18,000 seats available for just as many fans with tickets. Famously, or rather infamously, the checkered flag came down to greet forty-two vehicles but only nineteen made it to the finish line. It's a stunning motor sports fact that Johnny Allen actually finished the race for Jack Smith who had run the first 290 laps before wrecking. It could not be seen at the time, but it was a true indication of things to come when fans bought tickets to see races at Bristol season after season.

Bristol Motor Speedway was originally home to a half-mile track that incorporated banking of twenty-two degrees at every turn. As of 1969, the turns were adjusted to bank at thirty-six degrees and the track size increased to .533 miles where it still stands today. Tickets to the first night race were swallowed up by NASCAR fans when lights were added at Bristol. The year was 1978, and Bristol Motor Speedway set a precedent that has resulted in NASCAR being more than well known and appreciated for night races. Then in 1992, an all-concrete surface was paved over the track and Bristol set another first in the annals of NASCAR.

Bristol Motor Speedway's turns were banked an intimidating 36 degrees in 1969 and it was re-measured to its current distance of .533 miles. The lights went up in 1978, and that August the track played host to the night race that has now become one of NASCAR's signature events. By 1992, 71,000 tickets were added and the NASCAR racing fans filled the seats immediately until they were joined by an additional 15,000 new fans in 1996 that eagerly arrived for yet another addition of available seating.

Bristol Motor Speedway has continued to set the standards of racing excellence. With the addition of over 150 luxury seats and seating that wraps around the entire track, Bristol now allows a combined total of almost 170,000 tickets to be sold to NASCAR events for each race. Racing fans from past, present, and future generations have and will continue to make their way to see NASCAR legends such as Johnny Allen, Earnhardt, and Kulwicki push the sport to new heights.
