The ADT Skills Challenge is about as wild as golf gets. Closer to the Slam Dunk Contest than a Classic Golf Tourney, it is an offseason event for good reason. A baseball player has even won the challenge, out driving his competition, surprising a good many.
It seems the Challenge is frequently played under windy or rainy conditions, adding to its anything-can-happen appeal. After one such rainy day victory, Peter Jacobsen said, "You need quick focus at this kind of event, which is tailor-made for my style of play." Known for his mood swings, Jacobsen seems to intrinsically understand this up-and-down challenge.

The ADT Golf Skills Challenge is situational. The ADT Skills Golf Challenge is unique. It has built a strong following, whether in Miami or Palm Beach.
Most golf fans catch the challenge on television because the viewing gallery is often private and difficult in which to gain access.
Why is this one of golf's most successful events from its challenge season? Well, the professional golfers in a team format, the amazing surprises from former pro athletes (like McGwire, the baseball player who won), the play of Annika Sorenstam, Palmer, Mickelson, Nicklaus, all make the history of this wild ride a respected event.
The ADT Golf Challenge is an event of great caliber; it's the last shot every year--the Christmas-time Slam Dunk Contest for Pro Golf, the last gift of golf every year.
In 2009, when ADT Golf Skills Challenge moved to Palm Beach, the weather, mood and interest in the event seemed at its best. The community of Palm Beach has been overjoyed. The Breakers is a beautiful spot. This all has added to the prestige of the event. It is a fantastic place to play golf. Short game, chips, bunker-shots, driving distance are all part of this skillful challenge. Of the fifteen-or-so PGA Tour Challenge Season Events, many agree this one tests the pureness of a golfer's ability across-the-board while simultaneously pushing its participants to excel in specific categories.
Greg Norman, having won the challenge with his son, has had very high regard for the ADT Skills Challenge. Norman has stated that the combination of pros and caddies, the pitch hazards, the green side bunkers, all push for teamwork to be topnotch. And, when a golf outing can foster teamwork and reward individual skill, it is going a long way to opening the game up to new possibilities and rewards. To win the most challenges at ADT is delightfully difficult. The way ADT Skills Challenge matches its pairings and maintains its courses has given golf a great new dimension to its appeal.
