Addams Family Tickets - The theme song calls them “creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky.” A recent review of The Addams Family musical has called the show “ghoulish, macabre demonic, depraved, bizarre, eerie and weird,” and at the same time calls it “adorable, sweet, charming, humorous, enchanting, tender, and captivating.” The characters of The Addams Family are indeed all those things, and so much more, as the musical stage version of The Addams Family proves.
The Addams Family was the “bizarre, eerie, weird” and “sweet, charming, humorous” creation of cartoonist Charles Addams, who drew the cartoon series for The New Yorker for many years. The Addams Family, who were comprised of husband Gomez, wife Morticia, Uncle Fester, children Wednesday and Pugsley, Cousin It, the hand in the box Thing, and Lurch the butler, inspired the ‘60’s television show, and the ‘90’s film adaptations, The Addams Family and Addams Family Values.
In a completely new, original story, the family that makes The Munsters look regular has to face one of their toughest challenges. Wednesday is bringing home her new boyfriend to meet the family, and it turns out the potential son in law is actually (gasp!) normal. What will the neighbors think?
What a delightfully Addams Family style predicament to get into, and it’s what makes this musical, along with the original soundtrack and incredible cast, that makes The Addams Family great, giddy gothic fun that’s not to be missed.
Ironically, Nathan Lane, who plays Gomez in the Addams Family play, had a small role in the movie Addams Family Values, and now he’s head of the household. Lane of course is the multi-talented star of stage and screen who has won two Tony awards for The Producers and A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum.
